Justin Dowds, CEO of Compassion UK, says that the charity is “really excited” to have moved into its new home in Hampshire:
We can’t wait to be part of the community around Fleet and north Hampshire. We look forward to welcoming local families to our fun day where they can get to know more about Compassion and experience some of the amazing work we do to release children from poverty.
The Compassion Experience is a mobile trailer space which allows people to experience the sights, sounds and smells of a developing country.
The trailer houses the interactive, tactile, audio and visual stories of Sameson, a boy from Ethiopia, and Shamim, a girl from Uganda. Both Sameson and Shamim grew up experiencing the vulnerability, restrictions, and dangers that poverty brings in their respective cultures and contexts.
“The Compassion Experience enables visitors to experience another world without leaving their own,” explains Compassion UK’s Caroline Cameron. “Most importantly the presentation offers a message of hope for children sponsored through our world-class child sponsorship development programme”
In addition to being available to visit on the Saturday during the Family Fun Day the Compassion Experience vehicle will also be open 11-4pm on Sunday 15 July.
Christian charity Compassion UK purchased the new office building on Barley Way, and moved in on 21st May from its previous home in Weybridge. The building, which has been completely refitted by the charity, including improved disability access, and solar panels to help reduce the charity’s carbon footprint, has been legally and affectionately renamed ‘Compassion House’.
