Pray for the Philippines in the Aftermath of Typhoons Goni and Vamco

Please pray for the Philippines as the country recovers from Typhoon Goni and Typhoon Vamco.

Super Typhoon Goni made landfall on the 1 November. Sponsored children and their families have been affected as Goni ripped through buildings, lifting rooves and destroying homes. Many are without power and at least one sponsored child has lost a dear friend to the flood waters.

In Nabua and Bula, our church partners are trying to find ways to cope while their buildings are submerged. One sponsored child’s home has been completely washed away by the flood.

Despite the challenges, project staff throughout the Philippines are on the ground reaching out to sponsored children and their families, providing emergency relief such as food, vitamins and hygiene kits, safe and clean water, mosquito nets and repellents thanks to our Stability Interventions.

Only ten days after Super Typhoon Goni, Typhoon Vamco hit causing widespread flooding, destroying homes and hampering recovery. Vamco was the sixth storm to hit the country in five weeks.

May our Lord God provide protection from illness as people work together to rebuild their lives after these disasters. We also pray for strength, endurance and wisdom as they move forward.

Please pray that emergency relief and support will get to people just when they need it. Praise God that many families and children were evacuated before the typhoon hit.

We’re also praying for families as they grieve for their friends and loved ones who have lost their lives during this time. May they turn to God for comfort during this time.
