Prayers for pouring out God’s love into the world

Prayers for pouring out God’s love into the world

God is love. John 3:16 reminds us that God’s love is the foundation of our faith and action. When you know God’s incredible love for you in your heart, it’s natural to want to share it with a hurting world. As you pray, let God’s love for the world inspire you to reach out in both prayer and action for the good of children everywhere.

Praying for an overflow of God’s transforming love

  • Pray for God to reveal His deep love for you, especially in areas of your life that need healing. Ask Him to fill you with this love so that it can overflow to others.
  • Pray that God would guide you to love and serve those around you, whether it’s family, friends, or someone you know in need. Ask Him to show you specific situations—whether local or global—where His love is needed most to bring hope, peace, and justice.

Three creative ideas to pray for God’s love in the world

  • Pray with the children in your church. Let them write or draw their prayers, and really listen to the cries of their hearts. Let them inspire you.
  • Take a prayer walk around your neighbourhood, asking God to open your eyes to the needs in each home. As you pray, ask Him to use you as a channel of His love to bring transformation to your community.
  • Create stations around a room at your church, representing the different continents. You could use photos, flags, short films, food or clothing to theme each station. As people walk around, visiting the different stations, pray for God’s love to fill each continent.

Kemi’s testimony of God’s life-changing love

Kemi, Compassion graduate from Ethiopia

Kemi’s life was transformed through the love of God shown by his local church and sponsor.

He shares his remarkable testimony here.

Join Kemi in prayer for children who, like him, face the harsh realities of poverty:

My prayer is for the thousands of children who, like me, cannot speak up for themselves because of poverty; the most vulnerable; those who are orphaned and without support. I pray for their local churches to be equipped to give them the same safety, provision and hope I experienced through the Compassion programme.

If you’re new to Compassion, consider sponsoring a child as a way to join a movement of change-makers who are seeking to share God’s love in the world.
