Our friends and colleagues in Togo give God the glory for little Akloblessi’s safe return.
Last year, Akloblessi was kidnapped by the priestess at the local voodoo temple in Agbodrafo, Togo. Akloblessi’s Compassion project director, Fernand, spent 11 months petitioning Akloblessi’s parents, the priestess and government officials for her release.
Throughout the months she was held captive, those from her project and partner church prayed and fasted for Akloblessi. “The Lord was our source of determination,” explains Fernand. “We kept on praying for her every single day.”
From the first day she was taken, Fernand was determined not to give up on Akloblessi’s future. He mobilised the social services governor of the region, the church linked to his project and Compassion’s 11 other partner churches in the region.
Praise God that eventually the priestess agreed to let Akloblessi go. The Compassion project held a feast to welcome her back and Fernand rejoices that she returned to school at the start of September.
Father, we thank you for your hand of protection over Akloblessi. Please give her your peace and comfort as she settles back into her home. Help her catch up on the schooling she missed. Protect her in the years ahead.
