Thank you so much to all who prayed for and donated to the Haiti appeal last year.
A year on from the devastating earthquake that hit the country on 14 August, we’re praising God for the outpouring of support and the work that’s being done thanks to our generous supporters and amazing church partners.
We said at the time that after the dust settles and the media cycle moves on, Compassion and the Haitian church will still be there; and it’s so true. Our local church partners are ensuring your donations to our Haiti earthquake appeal mean homes are now being repaired or rebuilt and meeting places are being constructed.
Our church partners, as well as caring for the physical needs of children and families, are also providing emotional and psychological support, including:
For 10-year-old Lovinsky, the care of others has given him hope.
“In the last year, Compassion helped us to be strong by keeping us in their prayers. They gave us food and rebuilt my parent’s house. It was destroyed by the earthquake,” says Lovinsky.
“I prayed and God gave me strength. Being strong doesn’t mean never falling, it’s when you fall but you stand back up. Hope is wanting something to happen or to be true. My dream for my community is to see success for everyone. I want to be an engineer. I can’t wait to see myself having money and helping others in the future.”
Please pray with us as we thank God for His goodness and mercy.
