Typhoon Melor has left the Philippines allowing the government and agencies to assess the damage. Several areas remain without power and a state of emergency has been declared in Pinamalayan, Mindoro.
Please continue to pray for all those who have lost homes and livelihoods. Compassion Philippines estimates that the homes of 1,000 sponsored children have been damaged by the typhoon. Many families are currently staying in evacuation centres.
Typhoon Melor made landfall on Samar Island in the Philippines on Monday. Since then it has made four other landfalls. 700,000 people have been evacuated from their homes and at least three people have lost their lives. Heavy rain has caused flooding in many areas, including parts of Manila. Power and communications are down in the hardest hit areas.
Compassion Philippines currently report that one project has been damaged and 28 were in the path of the storm in Albay, Masbate and Sorsogon. Before the typhoon, Compassion church partners visited families and encouraged them to follow the evacuation plans laid out by the government.
Please join us in praying for all those in the Philippines who have been affected.
