Compassion is delighted to announce our partnership with Big Church Festival– the UK’s biggest Christian festival–this August.
This event is a wonderful celebration of all that God is doing through his Church and you have an opportunity to join us for FREE as a Compassion volunteer.
Who knows? You may discover a talent you didn’t know you had, make friends you never knew you needed, and have conversations you never imagined possible.
From 22–24 August 2025, Wiston House in Steyning, East Sussex, will come alive with incredible worship and inspirational ministry led by the likes of Phil Wickham, Brandon Lake, Philippa Hanna, Martin Smith, and more.
Volunteers are needed from 21–25 August, to help with arrival and departure. We’ll prioritise those available for the full event as it’s easier to coordinate, but we welcome all applications—so get in touch!

As you know, we LOVE the local church –it’s God’s hope for the world. In fact, Compassion currently partners with more than 8,900 local churches to release children from poverty in Jesus’ name.
Big Church Festival is a time for the Church to come together, refresh and refuel so we can share God’s love far and wide. As a Compassion volunteer, you’ll play a key role in helping make this happen.
You’ll help share about the life-changing work of our church partners in fighting poverty, inviting others to join in—all while experiencing the festival in a whole new way.
Whether you’re a festival veteran or a first-timer, we’ll take very good care of you. Your time is precious, so we’ve got some fantastic benefits just for you:
In the Body of Christ, everyone has a role—and it’s the same at Big Church Festival. You don’t need prior experience—or to even be a Compassion supporter—to join us.
This is also a great opportunity for your church home group or fellowship to serve together as you step out in faith and make a real impact!
Even young people aged 14+ can volunteer get involved too! 14–16-year-olds will need to be volunteering with a parent or guardian, but 16 and 17 year olds can volunteer by themselves, as long as they’re with an adult at the event.
You’ll need to provide a reference from someone at church and, if you’ve not already got a DBS certificate, we can help you get that sorted, too.
From welcoming guests and serving coffee to praying with festival-goers and sharing Compassion’s mission, every role makes a real impact.
To make sure you’re ready, you’ll receive self-led, online training beforehand, plus full onsite training on Thursday, 21 August.
You’ll then spend around six hours a day volunteering, and the rest of the time you’ll be free to soak in everything the festival has to offer.
Who knows? You may discover a talent you didn’t know you had, make friends you never knew you needed, and have conversations you never imagined possible!
As Megan, one of our long-time volunteers, says:
“I had some of the most fun times volunteering with Compassion and met some of the most amazing people. It’s a blessing to me and to children in poverty.”
We’ll do everything we can to give you the same incredible experience.
