Are you looking for some Christmas Cookie inspiration? The staff at one of the Compassion Projects in Indonesia gave us this recipe for traditional snow white cookies called ‘kue putri salju’ which the children love and we’d love to share this recipe with you.
Trust us, it’ll be the perfect addition to your Christmas treat collection. The best part? It’s super easy to bake. This recipe makes about two dozen cookies.
Snow White Cookie Ingredients:
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 ½ cups powdered sugar, divided
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup finely chopped nuts such as peanuts or pecans
Snow white cookie Instructions:
- Preheat an oven to 175°C.
- Cream the butter and ½ cup of the powdered sugar at low speed. Beat in the vanilla. Then, gradually add the flour and chopped nuts. Mix until the dough is no longer sticky.
- Dust your hands with flour and roll the dough into balls about the size of golf balls. Use the bottom or side of a cup to flatten each ball to a ¼-inch disc. Then, use the top of the cup to cut each disc into a crescent shape.
- Place the cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Leave a couple of inches between each cookie. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges look crisp. Remove from oven and let cool for about 5 minutes.
- Put the remaining 1 cup of powdered sugar in a bowl. Dip each cookie into the powdered sugar while still warm.
Enjoy the cookies when they’re cool enough. You can also store them in an air-tight container after they cool completely, making them a wonderful gift for friends or family.
