Thank you for sponsoring a child! Thank you for your prayers. Thank you for giving so generously to our appeals and interventions… Wow! There are so many ways that you partner with us to enable local churches around the world to love and serve their communities. Your support empowers children and their families to overcome the immense barriers that poverty places in their paths. We’re so grateful for your faithful generosity.
We hope you enjoy our compilation of various ‘gifts’ to bless you at Christmas – some are new, and others are old favourites that remain due to popular demand!
We pray you’ll be richly blessed this Christmas by savouring God’s amazing love shown to each one of us through the birth of Jesus Christ.
1. Pop-up Nativity Craft Template
Here’s a simple but effective paper nativity scene to cut out and colour-in with children.
It’s perfect as a family activity to complete with your own children or grandchildren, to use in school or with a church group.
Use each paper character to talk through the story of Jesus’ birth.
You could also get children to give a dramatised reading, or make a stop-motion animation film to retell the nativity in their own words.
2.Free Digital Downloads of Stunning Christmas Artwork
Your support makes an immense difference to the effectiveness of our work. To show how thankful we are for each and every one of you, we have these stunning illustrations for you to download.
You may have seen them before, but we thought they were too lovely not to share again!
You can email the images to friends and family to bless them during this season. You can put one as the background on your computer and share them on social media.
We’re immensely grateful to those amongst you who speak up on behalf of the children we serve via your social channels. Raising awareness of our work online is a powerful means of strengthening support and gaining justice for people living in poverty.
3. Christmas Devotion by Singer-Songwriter Graham Kendrick
Enjoy a moment to marvel at the miracle of Jesus’ birth! In this post, Graham Kendrick helps us not grow over-familiar with the wonder of God’s long-promised King finally arriving.
We’ve also included a delightful nativity by Compassion sponsored children in Kenya to highlight the Christmas story expressed by Graham. We hope it will encourage you too.
4. ADVENT DEVOTIONALS WITH SAMMY JABANGWE
In collaboration with Sammy Jabangwe, we’re delighted to share a short Bible-based series of reflections, which looks at the magnitude of God’s love shown through Jesus Christ.
You’ll get to see how God’s love creates, God’s love saves, and how God’s love leads as he calls us to share his love with others in all sorts of ways. This Advent, we invite you to consider: where will God’s love lead you?
You can read or listen to these on YouVersion. Or watch from 1 December on our YouTube channel, or you can listen as podcasts via our myCompassion App.
5. How To Make Your Own Eco Wrapping Paper
We’ve gathered some environmentally friendly ideas for how to wrap your presents this Christmas. From paint-stamped brown paper to the Japanese art of fabric wrapping, we hope these creative ways to wrap your gifts will inspire and delight you and your loved ones.
This blog also leads through to other ideas about how to enjoy giving ethical gifts for Christmas rather than one feeling swamped by ‘stuff’.
6. A new recipe for Snow White cookies!
Further down is our ever-popular hot chocolate recipe… but before you get to it, why not rustle up some delicious Indonesian ‘snow white’ cookies to enjoy alongside!
Simple and scrumptious – but they do involve nuts. If you have a nut allergy, you could try ground rice instead (or sesame seeds if you’re able to eat them). If you know a good substitute, please let us know! You could consider adapting the recipe further with orange or lemon zest, cinnamon or other festive spices. Share your results on social media – don’t forget to tag us so we get to see!
7. Peruvian Hot Chocolate Christmas Craft
Did anyone say hot chocolate? As it gets colder and darker, it’s so lovely to snuggle down with a warm, creamy drink… especially a sweet cup of cocoa!
Call it a craft. Call it a recipe. No matter how you’d like to classify this, here’s a scrumptious activity all the way from Peru you can do with the entire family!
8. Bible Verses for Christmas Cards
If you’re looking for inspiration from God’s word to encourage your friends and family this Christmas, we’ve gathered a few Christmas Bible verses for you. We hope you’ll have many opportunities to share with the people you love the true joy and hope found in Jesus.
9. Christmas Designs For You To Use
We’ve asked talented illustrator Miriam Latimer to create some downloadable festive designs for you to get into the Christmas spirit. Display the completed versions on your phone or social media, or share the colouring with your friends, family, church family or the child you sponsor to spread joy this Christmas.
10. Free Prayer Journals
We’ve created free prayer journal templates and shared it with a few ways to ignite our prayer life as we approach a new year.
If you haven’t already done so, please visit our blog to download the templates and use them to enrich your walk with our Lord.
