For millions of children, living in extreme poverty exposes them to all kinds of dangers, including forced labour and abuse. Not only that, poverty robs children of safe places to play, leaving them at risk of serious injury and harm.
The learning involved in play is vital for thriving in adulthood – children learn cognitive, problem-solving skills through playing; they learn to cooperate with each other and to forge positive emotional attachment in friendships. Play builds confidence and self-esteem… and it’s fun!
Thanks to your support, every Compassion child has a safe place where they can learn, develop and grow through learning in a classroom and through play. Every week for at least 44 weeks of the year, children sponsored through Compassion attend projects run by their local church where they’re known, loved and connected… where they can enjoy playing in an environment that’s safe and secure.
Enjoy these snapshots below, which show how when you sponsor a child, you enable them to thrive and have the freedom to enjoy their childhood.
